Current Mood: annoyedannoyed
This is not the summer I imaged in April! I had imagined Craig and I lounging at twin lakes recreational area by day followed by twilight tennis matches at oakland park.
Instead all Craig does is read, it is so fucking annoying. I have to basically beg to get him to even put his book down, and when he does it is only for a few minutes. I don't have a problem with him reading he has just gone overboard with it. For example it is beautiful outside right now, and what is he doing....? He is laying on the couch, READING!

In other news we saw Elf Power last week and The Narrator last night. Alright shows.
!!! is coming later on this month, that is going to be a fun show.

In book club news I finally finished my first book: David Sedaris's new book "Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim." I actually read this book in about 10 hours because I had already read several of the stories in GQ. This is not his strongest book overall but it does include some stories that I believe are some of the best he has ever written. Chicken in the Henhouse is one of these exceptional stories. Also some of these stories have a different feel than typical Sedaris stories because they address current events. Overall a good book and I would recommend it.

Right now I am working on "Speaking with the Angel" which is edited by Nick Hornby. It is a collection of stories from hot American and English authors: Dave Eggers, Helen Fielding, Robert Harris, Melissa Bank, Zadie Smith, Roddy Doyle, Irvine Welsh, Colin Firth, and Nick Hornby to name a few of the authors included.

Next up "Running With Scissors" or "Drop City" if it gets here anytime soon.

So today was groundbreaking. This time I think I really found an apartment. Well to be technical, Craig actually found the apartment in the classified section of comomusic.com. Who knew the internet is actually useful. I went to look at it today and it is really nice. It is located in the northwest part of downtown, just a short walk from campus and the bars. On Sunday Craig and I are going to look at it again.

So this weekend was fun:
Tracy + the Plastics
The Quails
Earth Day Downtown

Now I have to get back to work. Today is the last day I can work with wet clay in the ceramics studio. So I need to get my ass down there and roll out some clay. The project is really lame, but I need to just get it done. I also have a lame ass work meeting tonight, because we are getting new items on our menu. We have a new record store downtown. I went there today, and they have a nice vinyl collection...good thing Craig and I are getting a turntable soon.

Oh yeah! My school is not going to have stop day anymore...that is some shit!

This is going to be awesome! Who do you like better??

About this Entry
Apr. 19th, 2004 @ 11:19 am it's going to be a great summer
The weekend was nice. Craig came to visit and we actually got to spend the majority of the time together. I managed to get off all day on Saturday. Friday I did have to work, but after I got off we went to Shakespeare's for some pizza and beer. At Shakespeare's we ran into a group of people from Carbondale who were in town to see David Cross at The Missouri Theatre. We hung out with them for awhile and planned to go to another bar, but Craig started to feel sick. So we ended up just heading back to my place, which was fine with me. I know I acted like a jerk though, because I was in the mood to get fucked up. Oh well, there will be plenty of opportunities for that in the future. Saturday we slept in, then went out for lunch. After lunch we went to a flea market/antique mall that was pretty lame, everything was really expensive.
Saturday night we went to Mojos to see Apollo Sunshine and Apples in Stereo. The show was kind of disappointing. I expected Apples in Stereo to be more exciting, but it was still alright.

I am ready for summer. I cannot wait for May 13th when I will officially be done with school for the semester. I cannot believe that Craig and I are going to live in the same city for the first time in our lives. It still has not really set in and I don't think it will till it actually happens. It's going to be an excellent summer. In June I have nothing going on except for working. So Beth and Joe...we should all take a trip to Lawrence or somewhere. In July I have a photography class which I am looking forward to. I have only heard good things about the class, and I really like the professor who teaches it.

In other news my quest for a 2 bedroom apartment is going well. I was being lazy, but now that I have actually seen a couple places I feel much more motivated. Plus I want to find a place before Craig moves here for the summer. He will have enough shit to worry about when he moves here, like finding a job, scheduling classes, etc. I don't want him to have to worry about our fall living situation. I looked at two places last week, one being not very nice and one that was too nice. I already have appointments to see 3 places this week. I set up an appointment today to see a couple houses on Paquin St. on Wed. That is a great location, and they look nice from the outside.

Good shows coming to town.

Last night was pretty fun. The Rapture were amazing. Starlight Desperation and BRMC were alright. I met some new people, hi erin.

On Saturday my manager asked me if I wanted the night off. I took the offer and ended up spontaneously driving to Carbondale. We went to a show at the lost cross that night. I had a really good time and managed to get pretty drunk. On Sunday we ate BBQ hamburgers and I decided to stay till Monday. I left Monday morning and got caught up in a nasty traffic jam on I-70, so I missed all of my classes. Oh well.

Tonight I will do something good for myself, probably run, and get some serious GD done.

Friday on oprah "Men on the down low." Now that is trashy.

Pictures from the show

Starlight Desperation

The Rapture

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club

I'm trying to get some work done so that I do not feel so guilty going to the show. I feel I have a good start on my GD5 project. My professor and classmates really liked my idea (OSX desktop calendars) and liked the direction I was going with the idea. I also got some really good feedback from my classmates, which is rare. Tonight I am going to see starlight desperation, the rapture, and black rebel motorcycle club, how could I not go. I wish my boy was going with me, I guess I will have to take my other lover, bf*tron3400. Expect pictures from the show up tomorrow.

Joe here are some rough ideas, let me know if you like any of them.
